Valour FC forward Moses Dyer has been named the Canadian Premier League’s Player of the Week for Matchweek 18.

The 25-year-old native of New Zealand started both of Valour’s 2-0 wins at IG Field in the past week, both on Wednesday against Cavalry FC and on Sunday against York United.

Dyer scored both goals for the Winnipeg club in the match against Cavalry, opening the scoring with a flick over the goalkeeper before sealing a big three points for his team with this finish:

In the win over York, Dyer once again had a major impact, involving himself in both goals with good quick touches to keep play moving and help facilitate goals for Sean Rea and Billy Forbes.

Dyer is now up to nine CPL goals this season, putting him third in the Golden Boot race. He’s been a major factor behind Valour’s recent rise in form, as they now find themselves just five points out of a playoff spot.

He’s the second Valour attacker to be named Player of the Week this season, following William Akio’s nod in Week 3. This week, Dyer was also one of five players at his club to be named to the Gatorade Team of the Week, joined by Rayane Yesli, Brett Levis, Nassim Mekidèche, and Billy Forbes.

Dyer takes over the Player of the Week honours from York United forward Osaze De Rosario, who earned the nomination in Week 17 for his performance against HFX Wanderers FC.
