There is perhaps no more impressive way to score your first professional goal.
Despite a 2-1 loss (5-2 on aggregate) against Chivas Guadalajara on Tuesday night at the Estadio Akron, Forge FC were provided a late moment of magic in stoppage time courtesy of 17-year-old Kevaughn Tavernier.
The attacker got on the end of the second phase of a corner kick in the 90+3 minute, sending a thunderous low strike past Chivas goalkeeper Óscar Whalley.

This was just the fourth professional appearance for Tavernier, who also appeared for Forge late in the first leg against Chivas Guadalajara this past Wednesday at Tim Hortons Field.
The 17-year-old from Brampton was announced as a member of the Canadian U-20 men’s national team for the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship qualifiers earlier this week. He also recently represented Canada at the U-17 World Cup.
