WATCH: Forge FC players & staff speak ahead of Concacaf Champions Cup match vs. Chivas

On Tuesday, Forge FC step onto the pitch at Estadio Akron to face C.D. Guadalajara in the second leg of their 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup round one tie. Currently trailing 3-1 on aggregate, Forge face a big challenge to come back and stun the storied Liga MX club.

Ahead of the match, CanPL.ca’s Kristian Jack sets the stage for another special and historic night involving Forge FC in continental competition.

Jack also spoke with several Forge FC players after they trained at the Estadio Akron, including goalkeeper Chris Kalongo. The 22-year-old Kalongo made his Concacaf Champions League debut in the first leg at Tim Hortons Field this past Wednesday. He talks about that experience, and his journey to reach this point.

From a playing and coaching perspective, few in Canadian soccer have seen more big matches than Forge assistant coach David Edgar. He speaks about how special this opportunity is for the club and for the Forge players who will get to step out onto the pitch on Tuesday.

One Forge player who has a special relationship with Estadio Akron is Jordan Hamilton, who played on this very pitch during the 2018 Concacaf Champions Cup Final. Despite Hamilton’s Toronto FC losing the final in penalties, he has fond memories of that day, but is also hungry to change history on Tuesday.

Finally, Jack caught up with 17-year-old budding superstar Kevaughn Tavernier, who speaks about the special opportunity this is to get to play against such a historic club at such a young age. He also reacts to being named to the Canadian U-20 national team for the upcoming 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship qualifiers.

Tuesday’s match kicks off at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and will be available to watch live on OneSoccer.
