WATCH: Forge’s Smyrniotis, Tavernier react to 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup second leg vs. Chivas Guadalajara

Forge FC were eliminated from the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup on Tuesday night, but not without putting up an impressive fight in a 2-1 loss (5-2 on aggregate) in the second leg of their round one clash with Chivas Guadalajara.

After the match at Estadio Akron, CanPL.ca’s Kristian Jack spoke with Forge head coach Bobby Smyrniotis on just how proud he is of the performance, style and effort his club put in during this year’s competition.

He also got reaction from Forge’s goalscorer, 17-year-old Kevaughn Tavernier, whose brilliant strike in stoppage time provided the highlight of the night for the Hamilton side. It was Tavernier’s first professional goal, after recently being called up by Canada’s U-20 side for the upcoming Concacaf U-20 Championship qualifiers.
