York United FC has today announced several roster updates ahead of the 2023 Canadian Premier League campaign.
ARRIVALS
A number of new signings have been revealed in recent weeks.
Arrivals include a trio of Canadian midfielders – Elijah Adekugbe, Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé and Markiyan Voytsekhovskyy, as well as Dutch defender Lassana Faye.
Familiar faces also return for next season.
Goalkeepers Niko Giantsopoulos and Eleias Himaras are both confirmed while midfielder Matthew Baldisimo is back on a permanent basis after arriving on loan from Pacific FC towards the end of last term. Defender Paris Gee and forward Austin Ricci have also committed to new deals.
Earlier in the off-season, the club confirmed striker Osaze De Rosario had signed a two-year extension and will remain with The Nine Stripes through 2024.
A handful of players are also under contract for the upcoming season: Tass Mourdoukoutas, Max Ferrari, Mo Babouli, Kevin Dos Santos and Ronan Kratt*.
DEPARTURES
As previously announced, Isaiah Johnston has been transferred to MLS NEXT Pro side Huntsville City Football Club, while Mateo Hernandez and Mamadou Kane have also been moved on: to Bolivian outfit CD Real Tomayapo and CPL expansion side Vancouver Football Club respectively.
Dominick Zator is out of contract and has signed with Korona Kielce in the Polish top-flight.
Chrisnovic N’sa is also out of contract, a new agreement has not been reached and he will be departing the club.
Meanwhile, Oliver Minatel announced his retirement from playing in October.
Options have also been declined on the following players:
Noah Verhoeven, Lisandro Cabrera, Sebastian Gutierrez, Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio and William Wallace, while a mutual termination has been agreed with Eduardo Jesus.
We thank all of these players sincerely for their contributions and wish them well.
Tobias Warschewski, Azriel Gonzalez and Felix N’sa have also had their options declined.
IN DISCUSSION
The club is in talks with Michael Petrasso, Roger Thompson and Jordan Wilson regarding next season.
*Ronan Kratt remains a York United FC player. There is an active discussion with another club about a potential move and we will update if that situation progresses.
