York United FC can confirm the signing of Portuguese winger Kevin Dos Santos.

The 22-year-old arrives after spending an excellent season with Darlington FC in the National League North. In 41 appearances for the club, he managed four goals, including a special strike against AFC Fylde that was later voted Goal of the Season while he conjured another magnificent finish in a 3-0 victory over Telford too.

Born in Portugal, Dos Santos began his career at Lisbon-based UD Vilafranquense before moving to Vitória Setúbal and graduating to their U-23 squad. He moved to England in 2019 and signed for Tadcaster Albion. It was while facing Darlington in an FA Cup preliminary tie that Dos Santos impressed Quakers’ boss Alun Armstrong and a move followed in the summer of 2021.

“Once we knew of Kevin’s interest in securing a Canadian club things moved very quickly,” says Angus McNab, York United FC President/CEO & GM.

“I’ve known his agents at Coda in the UK for a long time and this was a deal that made sense for everyone. He’s an exciting player who I think will provide a spark in the final third. Kev is great with both feet, can comfortably play on either flank and across a front three too. He can also drop deeper and slot in as a wingback if needed. So, that flexibility and adaptability provides us with plenty of options.”
