‘We’re not satisfied yet’: Cavalry ready for Impact in CanChamp semis

Cavalry FC takes on the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo for the first of two legs in this 2019 Canadian Championship clash (PREVIEW), with a return to Spruce Meadows on Aug. 14 setting the stage for another possible CPL vs. MLS “cupset” following the Cavs’ odds-defying triumph over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the previous round.

While the Impact come into this particular matchup in brighter form than the Whitecaps, a recent 6-3 defeat to the Colorado Rapids in MLS action could be a sign of what Cavs head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. has likely told his players: Despite the differences in history, salary, and possible individual quality, the Impact are also a beatable outfit.

“I think we’ve exceeded a lot of the expectations, but at this point, we’re not satisfied yet,” Carducci said in the video above, posted by the club ahead of their 7:30 p.m. ET clash at Stade Saputo. “We’re going to keep going. We’re in a position where we have everything to gain, so we’re going to go out there, against Montreal, and give it our all.”

Added head coach Wheeldon Jr.: “Montreal’s a team that plays good football; they’re very intelligent, they can press, they can drop deep, and they have a lot of weapons that we’ve got to be careful of. Beating Montreal Impact? I think that would be exceptional.”
