As Canadian Premier League clubs entered a sixth week of return-to-training protocol, coaches are at the height of their preparations for a possible 2020 CPL season.
Cavalry FC coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr., along with revealing a mystery Canadian men’s national team trialist, admitted to putting his players through soccer tennis, soccer golf, finishing drills, and relay races to keep the “competitive spirit” alive.
“Our players are boxers training for an unknown fight date,” Wheeldon Jr. told CanPL.ca. “You can only do that for so long before it makes it tedious.”
Meanwhile, Pacific FC gaffer Pa-Modou Kah insisted his side needed to be ready in case an announcement comes at any time.
“So whenever we’re given the green flag, we’re good to go,” Kah said. “We’re working on keeping that mental sharpness and trying to do as much as we can. It’s about finding those methods that keep everyone sharp.”
