York9 FC announced Monday the club has re-signed goalkeeper Colm Vance, defensive midfielder Joseph Di Chiara, and winger Kyle Porter for the 2020 Canadian Premier League season, bringing back a trio of senior players to head coach Jimmy Brennan’s locker room.
Di Chiara, 27, and Porter, 29, featured quite prominently for the Nine Stripes in 2019; Di Chiara featured 23 times in regular season play, starting 20 matches. He recorded one assist and two goals in that time, a healthy return to compliment his bruising qualities in midfield. Porter was used in a variety of positions in the attack for Brennan’s outfit, starting 23 of his 25 regular season matches, and scoring a pair of goals to add to his four assists in 2019.

Vance made just one appearance for the Nine Stripes last season, deputizing for starting goalkeeper Nathan Ingham.
“We’re really happy to have this trio return for the 2020 season,” Brennan said in a club-issued statement. “Joe and Kyle are such important parts of our midfield and they found success in our strategies last year. Colm is a great player to have in the locker room and on the training ground, but also has the talent to step into that starting ‘keeper role when we need him.”
The Nine Stripes have also re-signed a number of key players for 2020, including fullback duo Morey Doner and Diyaeddine Abzi, as well as midfielders Manny Aparicio and Wataru Murofushi, goalkeeper Nathan Ingham, forward Simon Adjei, and defender Luca Gasparotto.
