As attention turns to Monday’s #GotGame Open Trials in Hamilton, York 9 FC coach Jimmy Brennan put a bow on an outstanding showcase in Quebec, where more than 200 trialists competed for attention from onlooking CPL coaches.
“It’s a hotbed (of talent),” Brennan told CanPL.ca. “I don’t know if it’s the best (in Canada), but it is a hotbed. We were very surprised.
“It was great to see the amount of talent here in Montreal, but we knew there were good players that would show up. Montreal has always produced some great players, technical players. They were on showcase today and we were very pleased.”
Following stops in Halifax and Montreal, CPL scouts and coaches will gather in The Hammer on Monday for what’s the third stop on the league’s coast-to-coast talent search.
“It’s only going to get harder and harder,” Brennan added. “Going into York Region (and Hamilton) there are going to be some great players, and out west, too.
“It’s going to get more and more difficult to make these selections. But, as coaches, that’s what you want.”
