The Canadian men’s national team will have to wait at least a day longer to kick off their critical Nations League quarter-final matchup against Jamaica, after Friday night’s first leg was postponed due to inclement weather in Kingston, Jamaica.
The match will now be played on Saturday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT. This critical two-legged matchup will not only determine who advances to the Concacaf Nations League Finals, to be played in Dallas in March, but also a spot at the 2024 Copa America.
Significant rain started well before the two sides had arrived at Independence Park, where they were originally scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET. That kickoff time was twice delayed, but when conditions did not improve, compounded by lightning in the area, the decision was made to postpone the match.
UPDATE: Tonight's #CanMNT vs. Jamaica @CNationsLeague Match will not kickoff before 8PM ET due to "on-field issues"
