Pacific FC today announced the signing of attacking midfielder Andrei Tircoveanu to a one-year contract, with a club option for 2025.
Tircoveanu, 26, joins the Tridents after gaining years of valuable professional experience in his native Romania, where he represented five clubs and won the Romanian Super Cup, the Romanian Cup, the Romanian League Cup and the Romanian second division title.
Pacific will become the first club Tircoveanu has played for outside of his home country when he suits up for the Tridents during the 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season.
“Andrei has a high technical pedigree and has played more than 140 games at the highest levels in Romania,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “He has won promotions and championships and brings his ambition to a new challenge with us here at Pacific.”
Tircoveanu came up through the youth ranks at FC Dinamo Bucharest of Romania’s Liga I and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2016. His playing time through 2019 was divided between Dinamo and CS Gaz Metan Medias, where he spent a pair of loan spells. Tircoveanu would go on to represent FCV Farul Constanta and CS Concordia Chiajna before finding a more permanent home at FC Botosani between 2020 and 2023, making 64 appearances and scoring three goals.
He most recently played for ACSC FC Arges, appearing eight times for the club based in Piteşti last season.
Tircoveanu represented Romania internationally at the youth levels, making two appearances on the U-16 squad and another two appearances for the U-17 side.
