Discipline Report: Canadian Premier League Matchweek 16

All on-field disciplinary matters for the Canadian Premier League (CPL) are overseen by Canada Soccer, pursuant to its Disciplinary Code and Professional Soccer Club Disciplinary Annex.

The following players are now facing suspension, which have been determined and issued by Canada Soccer, after the 16th week of play in the 2024 CPL regular season:

  • Manuel Aparicio, Atlético Ottawa
    • Reason for suspension: Yellow Card Accumulation
    • Sanction: One-game suspension (Saturday, Aug. 3 vs. Cavalry FC)
  • Raphael Ohin, Valour FC
    • Reason for suspension: Yellow Card Accumulation
    • Sanction: One-game suspension (Sunday, Aug. 4 vs. Forge FC)

Canada Soccer’s Disciplinary Panel is responsible for reviewing disciplinary charges passed through by Canada Soccer’s Incident Review Body, and determining the outcomes of those charges once the accused has responded.

Incidents involving the following players were reviewed by the Canada Soccer Disciplinary Panel review, which issued the following decision(s):

  • Vasco Fry, Vancouver FC
    • Charge: Misconduct
    • Details: Following review of the Match Officials’ report and video footage from the Friday, July 5 match between Forge FC and Vancouver,  it is alleged by Canada Soccer’s Incident Review Body that Fry did not leave the field immediately and, once he left the field of play, was visible in the player tunnel despite being asked by game day staff to leave.
    • Decision: Not Guilty

In addition, the following players are one caution away from a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation, after the 16th week of CPL play in 2024:

  • Aboubacar Sissoko, Atlético Ottawa
  • Luke Singh, Atlético Ottawa
  • Yann Fillion, Halifax Wanderers FC
  • Joshua Heard, Pacific FC
  • Cedric Toussaint, Pacific FC
  • Sean Young, Pacific FC
  • Elijah Adekugbe, York United FC
  • Austin Ricci, York United FC

Per Canada Soccer’s Good Behaviour Incentive, when a player plays in five consecutive league matches, either as a starter or a substitute, without receiving a yellow card or red card or other discipline sanction, the player’s yellow card accumulation total will automatically be reduced by one yellow card.
