Vancouver’s BC Place will be one of 14 stadiums across Canada and the United States hosting matches at the 2025 Gold Cup, Concacaf announced on Wednesday. The city will host the Gold Cup for the first time, while the competition returns to Canadian soil for the third time, following BMO Field in 2015 and 2023.

The 18th edition of the competition, which Canada won for the first and only time in 2000, will be played next summer, one year before North America hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Five of the 14 Gold Cup stadiums will also host World Cup matches — BC Place, AT&T Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, NRG Stadium, and SoFi Stadium.

PayPal Park in San Jose, CA, and U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN will be the other two stadiums joining BC Place as first-time Gold Cup hosts. Specific match allocation for each of the 14 stadiums is yet to be announced.

The tournament will begin with a 16-team group stage – four groups of four teams, with the group winners and runners-up advancing to the quarterfinals. From there it will be a standard single-game knockout tournament, culminating with the final on July 6, when the new Gold Cup champion will be crowned.

The group stage will take place from June 14-24, the quarterfinals will be on June 28 and 29, and the semifinals on July 2. Concacaf will conduct the official draw for the 2025 Gold Cup on April 10, 2025, with further details about the draw to be confirmed at a later date.

Mexico is the reigning champion, having defeated Panama 1-0 in the 2023 final at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Mexico has won the tournament a record nine times, followed by the United States with seven and Canada with one.

“As the last official centralized tournament in our region before the FIFA World Cup 2026, this Gold Cup will provide all participating federations with a great challenge and will be critical to their preparations for World Cup qualification and for participation in the FIFA World Cup itself. The tournament will create a tremendous opportunity for fans across the confederation to engage with the sport at such a pivotal time for its development.”
