The Canadian Premier League announced Wednesday that Cavalry FC forward Tobias Warschewski has been named the league’s Player of the Month for October 2024.
Warschewski had an absolutely torrid month to end the regular season and begin the playoffs, with six goals in four matches in October. He helped catapult the Cavs into second place, and on the final day of the regular season against Valour FC he scored twice to pass Ruben del Campo and win the CPL’s Golden Boot.
The German striker’s form continued into the postseason, as he put in a man-of-the-match performance and scored the only goal at Tim Hortons Field in Cavalry’s 1-0 win over Forge FC in the qualifying semi-final. As a result, Cavalry will host the 2024 CPL Final at ATCO Field on Nov. 9.
In his first year with Cavalry, Warschewski has scored 14 goals in all competitions, including a league-leading 12 in the CPL regular season.
Warschewski is the second Cavalry player to win the Player of the Month award in 2024, joining teammate Daan Klomp. Other winners this year include Tristan Borges, Ruben del Campo, Kwasi Poku, Mo Babouli and Moses Dyer.
