York United announce the departure of head coach Benjamín Mora

On Sunday, York United announced Benjamín Mora’s departure, as the club and its head coach have mutually parted ways.

“We are grateful to Benjamín for everything he brought to the club,” said Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President of York United FC. “Over the past five months, we achieved a lot and set new standards. Benjamín led by example and instilled a sense of belief in the group that will be harnessed moving forward. We wish him well for the future.”

Under Mora, York United finished with a club-record 39 points, and picked up their first-ever playoff victory, 2-0 over Pacific FC in the league’s 4th vs. 5th match on Oct. 23.

For his efforts, Mora earned a nomination for the league’s Coach of the Year award.

York United General Manager and President Ricardo Pasquel, as well as CEO Eduardo Pasquel will speak with media on Thursday, Nov. 14.

“The process of finding a new Head Coach is already underway,” said Ricardo Pasquel. “Inevitably, there is quite a lot of interest in the position and a large number of candidates to meet with. We are extremely excited by what’s ahead and look forward to building on the solid foundations laid in 2024.”
