Day 2 of the Canadian Premier League’s #GotGame Open Trials is underway in Halifax, with the remaining trialists now reduced to a final list of two goalkeepers and 26 outfield players for 11-v-11 scrimmages.
“When you get down to this stage now, we’ve dropped the numbers down for 11-v-11s, so now we get to truly see if they understand the full field and how they play off the ball,” FC Edmonton head coach Jeff Paulus told CanPL.ca. “We can see that now because they’re in defined positions. The quality goes up once you start to decrease the numbers.”
As the league’s head coaches watch on from the touchlines, trials lead coach Alex Bunbury and the rest of the league’s staff and trials coordinators will be hard at work keeping tabs on each of these talented players, with analytics company Kinduct also collecting even more comprehensive data using sensors and monitoring hardware and software for each of the players.
