2020 Canadian Championship final pushed back to 1st quarter of next year

Canada Soccer announced on Wednesday that the 2020 Canadian Championship final between Forge FC and MLS side Toronto FC will be played in the first quarter of 2021.

The status of the Voyageurs Cup final has been in limbo for several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Canada Soccer said that a date and location for the final will be determined in consideration of club and league schedules.

Like the CPL and MLS seasons, the start of the 2020 Canadian Championship, which was slated to kick off in June, was delayed due to the pandemic.

It was supposed to have four rounds of two-legged knockout ties and a final set to be played in mid-September. But in August, Canada Soccer decided to scrap the tournament and have the CPL Champions face the top-ranked Canadian side in MLS meet in the final.

Forge booked their spot in the final when they won The Island Games, while TFC collected more points than Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps in games involving the MLS rivals during the revised portion of the regular season.
