Pacific FC’s Pa-Modou Kah on OneSoccer Hangout: Racism is ‘the biggest pandemic’ in the world

The OneSoccer crew was joined by Pacific FC coach Pa-Modou Kah on Wednesday’s episode of Player and Pundit Hangouts.

Kah spoke with OneSoccer hosts Adam Jenkins, Kurt Larson and Asa Rehman about a variety of topics, including the issue of racism in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He also recalled the many instances that he was the target of racist abuse, including when he was often called “a monkey” by fans during his playing career.

“Racism is everywhere. It’s the biggest pandemic we have in the world,” Kah told OneSoccer.

Kah was asked about how he instills a culture of inclusion and equality at Pacific FC.

“It’s good we have different backgrounds in our team. For us, everyone is equal. We see you and me. It’s the person that matters,” Kah offered.

Kah also talked about Pacific FC recently returning to training at the Island Training Centre in Langford, B.C.

“It’s great to see the boys again … I think (COVID-19) gave them a great appreciation of what football is. They appreciate it more and love it more because it was taken away from them,” Kah offered.
