Captain Kyle Bekker led Forge FC past Cavalry FC in the latest tilt between the CPL rivals Thursday, scoring twice in the first half to give Hamilton its second win on the bounce at The Kickoff in Winnipeg, Man.
The reigning Player of the Year unleashed two wicked shots from the right of the net – in the 13th minute and 35th minute – moments of brilliance that outcounted Cavalry’s overwhelming share of possession.
Tommy Wheeldon Jr. failed to create much in the attacking third and seemed undone by Bekker’s early goals – ultimately leading to their first loss of the campaign.
Thursday’s result saw Forge propel to a 2-0-2 record (6 pts) and leave Cavalry at 2-1-1 (7 pts).

Clinical @ForgeFCHamilton gets the win!
Pretty even numbers all around as both teams had similar xG, xG per shot, total shots, & even possession start heights ⚖️?@CPLCavalryFC with only 2 shots on target – both coming in the 2nd half – couldn't break down ⚒️#CanPL #CCdata pic.twitter.com/KmoAcEqlUX
