It was an afternoon to celebrate in Halifax, Nova Scotia as the hometown Wanderers secured a 1-0 victory over Pacific FC after a late strike from Pierre Lamothe.
The match also saw celebrations of a different kind as Halifax native, and NHL superstar with the Colorado Avalanche, Nathan MacKinnon brought the Stanley Cup to Wanderers Grounds as part of his day with the league’s championship trophy.
Perhaps inspired by their native son, Halifax secured their second straight home victory and clean sheet against a Pacific side who spent most of the match with 10 men after Manny Aparicio was sent off in the 28th minute.
