York United FC can confirm the signing of Canadian defender Paris Gee.

The 28-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2022 season.

The Burnaby, BC native has plenty of CPL experience having featured 27 times for FC Edmonton last term, including three appearances against The Nine Stripes.

Primarily a left-back, Gee is vastly experienced and has racked up well over 150 professional games across Canada, the United States and Croatia. Having cut his teeth with the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club and the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency, Gee also played with Simon Fraser University in 2012. With aspirations of turning pro, he travelled to Zagreb in 2014 and signed with NK Rudes of the Croatian second division.

After two successful seasons, he returned to North America in late-2016 and joined United Soccer League (USL) side Tulsa Roughnecks. Memorably, Gee enjoyed a spectacular start to the 2018 USL campaign when he assisted four times in the first eight games. He went on to add a further three assists and also managed three goals that season, leading to a move to Saint Louis FC in 2019. The highlight of that year was the club’s superb run in the US Open Cup, beating the likes of Chicago Fire and FC Cincinnati on their way to a semi-final defeat to eventual winners Atlanta United FC.

“Paris is a great pick up for us at this stage of the year,” says Angus McNab, York United FC President/CEO & GM.

“He brings some valuable experience and his versatility is a major asset. Paris can easily play on both sides of the defence – as a traditional full back and wingback – which certainly helps us right now. While only a deal to the end of the season, it’s a good opportunity for Paris to see what we are about as a club and for us to learn more about him with an eye on 2023.”
