CPL Draft Declaration

Top rated, Canadian University soccer players from coast to coast will have an opportunity to earn a spot on a CPL team through the CPL-U SPORTS Draft. One of the unique features of the partnership between the CPL and U SPORTS is it will allow a student-athlete to play in the CPL while maintaining their eligibility to return to U SPORTS competition, something that is the first of its kind.

Breakdown of the CPL-U SPORTS Draft

  • The player draft will take place in mid January 2022 (details to be confirmed) via a virtual presentation on the CPL’s channels.
  • The CPL / U SPORTS Draft will consist of two rounds.
  • Participation in the draft is only for undergraduates planning to return to school the following year.
  • This draft is open to any eligible U SPORTS underclassmen with one to four years of U SPORTS eligibility remaining.
  • The 16 players that are drafted will be invited to their club’s preseason training with the hopes of securing a 2022 U SPORTS Development Contract for the upcoming season.

By completing the following form, you are declaring your interest in being drafted. You must declare and have agreed to the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) by midnight Friday, December 31st 2021. or you will be formally removed from the draft-eligible pool.
