WATCH: York9’s Ryan Telfer scores 1st goal in CPL history
York9 FC’s Ryan Telfer has made Canadian soccer history, scoring the first-ever goal in the Canadian Premier League with a deft right-footed strike beating Forge FC’s Triston Henry in the third minute of play.
The play began from midfield as Manny Aparicio cut the Forge backline with an exquisite through pass, which Telfer smartly plucked away from a sliding defender, opening up a 1-v-1 opportunity with the home team’s ‘keeper, which he tucked away cool as you like.
York9 FC head coach Jimmy Brennan will be pleased with his team’s early effort in silencing the crowd at Tim Hortons Field.
