Valour FC signs 2021 CPL-U SPORTS Draft pick Tony Mikhael

Valour FC has announced that they have signed CPL-U SPORTS Draft pick Tony Mikhael to a contract ahead of the 2021 season.

Mikhail, 21, was drafted 14th overall out of Carleton University, where he was a standout defender for his hometown school. Mikhail can play across the backline, but is most known as a centre-back.

Valour needed another centre-back, so the move makes sense for all parties. He’d been training with Valour ahead of the 2021 season, and impressed head coach Rob Gale.

“We are pleased to offer Tony a contract,” said Gale. “He’s a player with a lot of potential and upside and has blended well with the group. We’re looking forward to developing his game this season in a first-team professional setting.”

Mikhael has also played for the Lebanon U23 team, as he qualifies through his parents. He’s suited up for a friendly, but is yet to make a competitive debut, or a senior appearance for Lebanon.

He is Valour’s 21st player signed for 2021, after Rodrigo Reyes was brought in on loan on Thursday.
