York9 FC captain Manny Aparicio didn’t just turn heads at York Lions Stadium on Wednesday evening with his audacious long-range rocket against Pacific FC.

No, with his goal, the Nine Stripes captain also did enough to secure a coveted spot on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the Night for July 17, too – No. 9, to be exact (and, also, to be poetically fitting).

Indeed, Aparicio’s goal is an early Fall contender for goal of the year, and while he earned a yellow card for his shirtless celebration, could you really blame him? As he explained after the match: “It’s probably the best goal I’ve ever scored.”
