Take a bow, Tristan Borges.
Not to be outdone by his Ontario opposite Manny Aparicio at York9, the Forge attacker scored a stunning goal of his own on Wednesday evening, beating HFX goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams and the rest of the visitors directly from the corner – a goal known around the world as an “Olimpico.”
“The game plan was to crowd out where the goalie is,” Borges told reporters post-match, of his astounding effort, flashing a grin. “Bekker and I were deciding whether to put it short or put it on the net. We thought it would be a trickier play for the ‘keeper to put it far side and on goal and, hey … I guess it worked.”
No kidding, it did! Check it out, above. (Video courtesy: OneSoccer).
