Eddies add ex-Wanderers defender Duran Lee for 2020 campaign

FC Edmonton is bringing on former HFX Wanderers defender Duran Lee for the 2020 season.

Lee, 24, played eight matches for the Wanderers in 2019 after joining mid-season from Vaughan Azzurri in League1 Ontario – a club the Wanderers faced in the first round of the Canadian Championship.

“We have targeted a few areas to address this offseason with a left-footed defender being a priority,” FC Edmonton coach Jeff Paulus said.

“We thought that Duran was very good for Halifax and believe that he is the ball-playing defender that we were looking for. He will bring a new dimension to the team and provide the balance that we require in order to build out effectively.”

A native of Toronto, Lee spent time with Toronto FC’s youth setup and with Sigma FC, Forge FC coach Bobby Smyrniotis’ former academy side.

Lee featured mostly at centre back for the Wanderers, but he is capable at left-fullback.

Wednesday’s signing brings FC Edmonton’s 2020 roster up to 15 players, including returnees Connor James, Kareem Moses, Mélé Temguia, Ramon Soria, Allan Zebie, and Easton Ongaro.

The Eddies have also signed former NASL standout Hanson Boakai for the 2020 campaign.
